Susan Hayward RAD RTS, Co-Director - a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance and an affiliate of the American Academy of Ballet. Susan was the winner of many national competitions in dance in Great Britain. She has been teaching, choreographing, and entering children for RAD examinations for over 40 years. She has produced many full-length ballets on the coastside, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, The Tales of Beatrix Potter, La Fille mal Gardee, The Nutcracker, Aliceís Adventures in Wonderland, Iíll Tell You a Story, and The Enchanted Crystal Ball.
Heidi Patterson RAD RTS, CO-Director, BALLET and TAP Teacher - is a former student of the SHSD and a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance. She received her ballet training from Susan Hayward, Jackie Thomas, former dance school owner; Shelia Nelson, former soloist with Royal Ballet Company in London; and Mr. Russell, former Director of the Performing Arts Academy in San Mateo. She received her tap training from Mercedes Fitzgerald and teaches tap based on the AI Gilbert Method. She has choreographed countless tap routines for SHSD dance productions (e.g. Alice in Wonderland, Iíll Tell You a Story..) as well as routines for the Half Moon Bay High School (e.g. The Pajama Game, Crazy for You) and CRT Talent shows. Mrs. Patterson is also the daughter of Susan Hayward.
Sade Warner, Co-Director, ARAD Ballet and Jazz Teacher - holds her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 (professional level) certificate and is a recipient of the Grade 8 Award with Distinction. She began dancing at the Susan Hayward School at the age of three and has since gone on to teach younger generations. She has performed in community events as a member of Shoreline Youth Ballet and participated in the American College Dance Festival in Long Beach. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Dance and Television Video Production. Currently, she is a member of The Academy of Danse Libre which performs European Social Dances ranging from the 1850ís to date.
Robert Lowman, ARAD Ballet Teacher - holds a Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 with Distinction certificate. He began his dance training at SHSD at the age of 5, taking classes in ballet and tap. After SHSD, Robert continued his interest in dance at the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts. Robert has danced in works by Gregory Amato, Katie Faulkner, Carlos Carvajal and many others. He is currently a member of the faculty at the Peninsula Ballet Theatre.
CLASS ASSISTANTS - Izzy Goodwin & Annalie Taylor (both RAD Advanced 1) - will be assisting Tuesday and Saturday 1st steps, Primary/Gr.1. classes. Izzy has been taking classes at the school since the age of 3. Annalie who graduated from high school in 2020, has taken dance classes for several years. She is taking a gap year before going to college. Both assistants have danced in many of SHSD productions.
